How To Use Google Keyword Planner Tool For Keyword Research

Here’s a step-by-step guide to using Google Keyword Planner to search for keywords for your web and mobile design & development agency targeting the UK market:

Step 1: Access Google Keyword Planner
  1. Sign in to Google Ads: Go to Google Ads and sign in with your Google account. If you don’t have a Google Ads account, you must create one.
  2. Navigate to Keyword Planner: Once logged in, click the Tools & Settings icon (wrench) in the top right corner. Under the “Planning” section, select “Keyword Planner.”
  3.
Step 2: Set Up Your Keyword Research
  • Choose a Tool: You’ll see two options: “Discover new keywords” and “Get search volume and forecasts.”
    • Select “Discover new keywords” to find new keyword ideas.
Step 3: Discover New Keywords
  • Enter Your Services: In the “Start with keywords” tab, enter relevant terms related to your business, such as “web design,” “mobile app development,” “UI/UX design,” etc.
  • Specify Location: Click on the “Location” box and set it to the United Kingdom to get results tailored to the UK market.
  • Language and Network: Ensure the language is set to English and the network is set to “Google.”
Step 4: Analyze Keyword Results
  • View Keyword Ideas: After entering your keywords and settings, click “Get results.” You’ll see a list of keyword ideas along with their average monthly searches, competition level, and bid ranges.
  • Filter and Sort: Use the filters and sorting options to narrow down the list. For example, you can sort by average monthly searches or competition to find the most relevant keywords.
Step 5: Refine Your Keywords
  • Add Filters: Apply filters like average monthly searches, competition, and keyword text to focus on more specific and relevant keywords.
  • Group Keywords: Group similar keywords to target different aspects of your services. For example, create groups for web design, mobile app development, and UI/UX design.
Step 6: Save and Export Keywords
  • Select Keywords: Check the box next to the keywords you want to use.
  • Add to Plan: Click the “Add to plan” button to include these keywords in your plan.
  • Download Keywords: After adding keywords to your plan, click on the “Plan overview” tab. From there, you can download your selected keywords as a CSV file for further analysis and implementation.
Step 7: Implement Keywords
  • On-Page SEO: Incorporate the selected keywords into your website content, meta tags, headers, and alt texts.
  • Content Creation: Use these keywords to guide your blog posts, case studies, and other content marketing efforts.
  • Monitor Performance: Use tools like Google Analytics and Google Search Console to track the performance of your keywords and make adjustments as needed.

By following these steps, you can effectively use Google Keyword Planner to identify and implement the best keywords for targeting the UK market for your web and mobile design & development agency.
