RYA Shorebased Classes 2023

We’ve been back in the classroom with our 2023 RYA Day Skipper Shorebased classes that started in January and ran for 8 weeks at Stanley Head Outdoor Education Centre, Tompkin Road, Stanley, Stoke-on-Trent, ST9 9LY. The cost is £310 and includes a Course pack (Training Charts, RYA Shorebased Handbook, Training Exercises), Training Almanac (Day Skipper only), Course Notes, tuition, exam fees, and certificate.

If you would like to start your theory training before then we do offer a discount of £30 to those students who take the RYA Essential Navigation & Seamanship Course (online) with us.

Useful Tip: If you do this short introductory course first, you get a free plotter and dividers with the RYA course pack. The RYA Day Skipper course pack doesn’t include these tools so you have to buy them yourself separately.

You don’t have to do Essential Navigation & Seamanship before Day Skipper; it’s just a useful option. Many people find it helpful to get to grips with some of the basics right now. You can get more information and watch a short video on that course here.

Classes will be on Saturday’s from 9.30 – 4.30pm. We will endeavour to keep to the above schedule but extra days may be added if lessons have had to be cancelled during the year due to unforeseen circumstances.
